Barcelona have made a sensational start to the new season and they are currently unbeaten in the last 19 matches. The recent 3-1 win over Malaga helped them strengthen their position in the league even further.
Many think that Barcelona already have more than a hand on the title after opening a 16 point advantage over arch rivals Real Madrid, while the second placed Atletico Madrid are nine points behind them. Despite this incredible advantage, the midfielder Andres Iniesta has said that the team needs to maintain its focus if they are to win the fourth league title in five years.
Barcelona have been one of the most successful teams in world football over the last four years.
However, Real Madrid managed to pip them to the title last season. Iniesta has said that sooner rather than later the team will suffer their first defeat of the season. Barcelona have the opportunity to win the 22nd league title. Iniesta has said that the facts and figures might be excellent at this stage of the season, but they mean something only at the end of the season. Iniesta came extremely close to winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, but he was beaten by his teammate Lionel Messi once again.
"Sooner or later that first defeat will come. We'll try to extend our undefeated streak as long as we can, though. We feel great and our first half of the season was nearly impeccable. These kinds of numbers only mean something at the end of the season. We want to be on the same form in May," said the 28-year-old midfielder on the official site of the club. Barcelona will once again be facing Malaga in the next match, but it is in the Copa del Rey. Barcelona are yet to be defeated in the league this season.
