Malcom’s agent hints about potential interest from European clubs

Malcom’s agent Leonardo Cornacini has acknowledged that his client is attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. The Brazilian has barely featured for Barcelona since making the switch from Bordeaux last year but Cornacini has suggested that the attacker could stay put with the club next term.

Speaking to Calciomercato.it, Malcom’s representative confirmed that there is plenty of interest in his client, who has been previously linked with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan. However, he added that his client has been adapting well to the demands of the Spanish game and he could yet stay put with the La Liga holders, he quipped: “Malcom is certainly an interesting player for any European club. But he a long contract, until 2023, with Barcelona. “He is adapting well and we believe that next year he will do much better than this.”

Malcom has struggled for regular game time under the tutelage of Ernesto Valverde this term and he has been restricted to a solitary league start to date. As such, he has struggled to make the push to the national team of late, and that could be at the back of the attacker’s ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

Just like last year, “Arsenal and Tottenham have already been associated with his services“ but considering the length of his current contract, the Blaugrana may not consider much more than a temporary agreement for the player. Nonetheless, the Spanish club would demand the need for regular first-team football and that could decide where the forward could ply “his trade next season“.

Barcelona are currently top of the league standings and they hold a comfortable 10-point gap over Atletico Madrid. Hence, they remain favourites to retain the title, unless they suffer a drastic dip in form during the remaining months of the season. Meanwhile, they have reached the summit of the Copa del Rey while progressing to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.
