INIESTA PAYS THE PRICE

Spanish midfielder and Barcelona star Andreas Iniesta will be out for up to 3 weeks according to the latest injury report.

The Spanish midfielder suffered an injury in the match against Real Madrid in the Copa Del Ray quarter-finals. This was a match in which Barcelona once again asserted their superiority over Real Madrid by qualifying for the semifinals at the expense of the capital club.

However, it seems that both Barcelona and manager Guardiola have had to pay huge price to assert their dominance, as Andreas Iniesta has been ruled out for up to 3 weeks due to the injury suffered in this match.

Barcelona managed to win the match 4-3 on aggregate. The first leg of tie, thus, became extremely crucial in the grand scheme of things. Real Madrid were extremely desperate to get some sort of a good result against Barcelona after having been at the wrong end on numerous occasions in the last few years.

They achieved the 2-2 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou in order to salvage some pride. However, it was not enough to get them into the semifinals of the competition they had won last year – Copa Del Rey. Barcelona will be facing either Valencia or Levante in the semifinals of competition.

It is expected that Iniesta will be missing the match against Villarreal in the Spanish league. However, he is expected to return in time for the start of the Champions League knockout stages. Barcelona will be facing the German club Bayern Leverkusen in the last 16 of the Champions League.

It is the competition that Barcelona will want to win this year. It would make them the first team to have successfully defended the Champions League since the format was changed in 1992 to the present one. Barcelona won the Champions League last season against Manchester United in the final.
