Former Barcelona forward David Villa has expressed his utmost delight at the opportunity of reuniting with one of his former teammates Andres Iniesta following his most recent transfer move.
The Spanish international completed a move from Major League Soccer outfit New York City FC to Japan to represent top flight club Vissel Kobe. The Japanese club is being managed by a fellow Spaniard, Juan Manuel Lillo.
Vissel Kobe have shown their determination to go for major honors this season, completing the signing of a host of former European league legends including Podolski, Iniesta and most recently, David Villa.
Alongside Iniesta, Villa enjoyed huge success in Spain at Barcelona, winning almost every single trophy up for grabs, including the Spanish La Liga, Copa del Rey, UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup and Spanish Super Cup.
The duo even won the biggest of them all in 2010, lifting the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, thanks to an Iniesta winning goal in the final.
Following his first training with his new teammates, David Villa made no secret of his delight to be back playing alongside Iniesta again.
Speaking with the media at the completion of his maiden Vissel Kobe training, Podolski revealed how much easier things can be when anyone plays alongside a player of Iniesta’s caliber.
He spoke highly of the 2010 FIFA World Cup hero, revealing that Iniesta gives him a lot of joy when playing on the football pitch, even thanking him for his winning goal in the World Cup final against the Netherlands in 2010.
“David Villa will also share the same dressing room with former Germany international Lukas Podolski“, who also plies his trade in the Japanese Football “League at Vissel Kobe“.
Vissel Kobe will get their new season underway on the 22nd of February against Cerezo Osaka, a team managed by Basque manager Miguel Angel Lotina.
