Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta has said the team is not likely to forget the humiliation they suffered at the hands of the Netherlands in their opening group game at the World Cup in a hurry and will look to make amends and secure progression into the next round.
Vicente del Bosque oversaw his side surrender a one goal lead to go down 5-1 to an energetic and hungry Dutch side with Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben grabbing two goals each as the reigning world champions suffered their biggest defeat since 1963.
The victory has been hailed by the Dutch media as a perfect payback for their 2010 World Cup final defeat at the hands of Spain while the Spanish media has slammed the team for being too casual in their approach to the game and being arrogant enough to not take the Dutch seriously enough.
And Andres Iniesta, who struck the winner as Spain secured their first and long awaited World Cup triumph in the final in 2010, has admitted it was a defeat that is difficult to digest. He also mentioned that he and his teammates will try and learn their lessons from the defeat and bounce back to try and go through to the next round.
The Barcelona maestro said that they will have to try and win the next two games, adding that in such a tournament, small margins create a huge difference and they cannot afford any more slip ups.
He went on to mention that team is prepared to work hard and fight for whatever challenges that comes up in front of them. Andres Iniesta admitted that it will be a difficult proposition but they will give it their best shot and if it happens, then it’s good, if not, they have no one else to blame but themselves.
